BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
The growing size and complexity of business has increased the demand for decision
makers – for people with management skills. Monroe’s Business
Administration program concentrates on the development of your managerial capabilities. You learn to identify and solve problems
using management and accounting skills and techniques assisted
by computer systems. Graduates are prepared to continue in
baccalaureate programs or assume positions at business, real estate, insurance, marketing and
financial institutions.

BUSINESS TECHNOLOGIES
The Business Technologies program prepares students for jobs in today’s computerized
business environments. Managing a technical office is an exciting
career requiring a mastery of software applications and communications
skills. The ability to communicate with all levels of the
organization and the general public and to possess expertise
in word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation
applications are essential. Making decisions and solving complex
programs are also necessary. The program begins with core
course requirements including: keyboarding, word processing,
electronic spreadsheet, technology of presentations, business
writing and speech communications.
After completing the core requirements, a concentration may be selected. The
choices are:
1. Information Processing Specialist
Prepares students to enter the business world in any
information based entry level position. In addition to
the core requirements, Information Processing stu
dents further their application software knowledge by
taking courses in databases and integrated business
applications.
2. Administrative Assistant
Prepares students for employment opportunities in office services. In addition
to their core requirements students increase their knowledge
of the day to day workings of a business organization by taking
courses that focus on business office management and procedures.
3. Legal Administrative Assistant
Prepares students for positions in legal offices. These
students will take courses that focus on legal termi
nology and documentation. In addition, they will
explore the area of law office management.
Graduates of all tracks will be qualified to sit for the MOS certification
exams in Word and Excel. Cooperative Education/Internships
are required for all students in all tracks.
