The college currently offers online degree programs in Business Administration
(A.A.S.) and Criminal Justice (A.S.) and a variety of courses
in other majors which are taught in either the “Blended Learning”
(a combination of online and onsite sessions) as well as online
format.
THE GENERAL EDUCATION CORE REQUIREMENTS

Note: Degree candidates who do not possess a high school credential must complete the
following courses to be eligible for the New York State 24-credit
GED: six credits in English Language Arts, including writing,
speaking, and reading (literature); three credits in Mathematics;
three credits in Natural Science; three credits in Social Science;
three credits in Humanities; and six credits in the major program.
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Accounting is the basis for business decisions. Modern business depends on
the ready availability of financial information and analysis.
Monroe’s Accounting program prepares you to provide such information
utilizing both manual and computerized systems. This program
will provide you with a strong background in each of the major
areas of study, such as principles of accounting, taxation,
cost accounting and advanced accounting applications utilizing microcomputer hardware and software. All of the accounting
courses in the Associate’s degree program have either a computerized
accounting component or a concurrent computerized accounting course:
-
(1) Computer Applications for accounting with Principles of Accounting I,
(2) Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks with Principles of Accounting II,
(3) the Bedford Integrated Accounting software with Intermediate Accounting I, and
(4) Integrated Accounting for Windows and Peachtree Accounting for Windows with Cost
Accounting.
As an Accounting degree graduate, you will enter the business world or baccalaureate
study with the capabilities and confidence that you will need for success.
