The only exceptions are as follows:

  • A student may take one semester leave, having completed the proper forms, without losing his/her scholarship.
  • Eligible students may attend and receive a pro-rated scholarship for one part-time semester. No scholarship, however, will be granted in the following semester.
  • Students who are in their final semester in either the Associate program or Bachelor’s program may receive a pro-rated scholarship for less than full-time study.

Students receiving Freshman Scholarships and Baccalaureate Scholarships must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 based on having completed a minimum of four credit classes.

To be eligible for the Freshman or Baccalaureate Scholarships students are expected to submit their admissions application and supporting documents and essays by the application deadline appropriate for their semester of entry. Freshmen will submit these documents to the Admissions Department and first-time Bachelor’s students will submit their scholarship application to the Admissions Director of the Bachelor’s Division.

CONTINUING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

Monroe Associate Degree Scholarship Baccalaureate Transitional Scholarship Monroe Bachelor’s Degree Scholarship

Applications are not required for these scholarships. See the accompanying chart for eligibility guidelines.

All scholarship students are expected to complete a FAFSA application as well as the TAP grant application from New York State when applicable. International students who are not eligible for government grants are not required to file the FAFSA or TAP application. Title IV aid (Pell and FSEOG) and TAP awards will be subtracted from the total cost of tuition, fees and books. The amount of the scholarship award will be based on the student’s remaining liability for these costs as well as the minimum and maximum limits of the award. Previous balances will not be covered by these scholarships.

Scholarships for Part-time Study

Students in their last semester of their Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree, who need less than four classes to graduate, may attend part-time and receive a pro-rated scholarship. One class would equal 25% of the scholarship; two classes, 50%; and three classes, 75%.

Students, who are not in their last semester, may attend part-time once and receive a pro-rated scholarship during the semester in which they are part-time, but will not receive the scholarship for the following semester.

Appeals

Appeals to the Scholarship Committee may be made and will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the committee. All inquiries and appeals must be submitted to the committee via the Financial Aid Office on the appropriate campus.

All athletes must apply for financial aid.

For academic year 2005–2006, this scholarship has a value of up to $9,750 per semester (each scholarship may vary based on the actual cost of books, board charges, and meals). After application to institutional costs (tuition, fees, board and meal plan) the balance, not to exceed $1,000, is distributed in monthly installments of $250 a month. The monthly distribution of $250 is to be used for weekend board, transportation and miscellaneous expenses. The Financial Aid Office will authorize the full purchase of all required books.
