A Brief Introduction of The Writers Publishing House
The Writers Publishing House is a state-leveled large-scale literature publishing house established in 1953, where there are 8 book editorial departments and an office of Writers' Digest (a weekly of state-wide excellence of the similar kind, with an amount of distribution as large as 0.35 million copies for each issue), with a faculty of 100 people, among whom there are 26 senior editors and 39 middle-rank ones.
In 2003, the Publishing House is forming "The Chinese Writers Publishing Group" with some other state-leveled presses and publishing houses, including Art and Literature Newspaper, People's Literature, Periodical of Selected Short Stories, Poetry, Chinese Writers, National Literature, China's Campus Literature, Global Entrepreneurs, etc.. The Book Distribution Corporation under the Writers Publishing House is one of the best in China, with a nation-wide selling net of 1300 shops throughout the country.
Great masters of Chinese literature such as Mao Dun, Feng Xuefeng, Ding Ling, Zhang Guangnian,… had been working in The Publishing House an president or editor-in-chief, imperceptibly influenced by their words and deeds and learning from them the moral character, the Publishing House possesses the superior quality of humanism. Since China adopted the policy of "reform and open" in 1978, especially in recent years, the Writers Publishing House, having renewed the concept and been enterprising and developing, has taken a reform way suited to China's publishing industry, and kept the front rank on the sailing list of art and literature publication in China for running years and won nearly 100 book award of various kinds. The Writers Publishing House has become a famous brand of China's publishing house, attracting the attention both at home and abroad.
