The scientist who cloned Dolly the sheep hijacked the idea for the experiment from his staff, it was claimed yesterday.
Professor Ian Wilmut, 63, successfully created the world's first cloned mammal.
But ex-colleague Dr Prim Singh told an employment tribunal: "He poached ideas and took the credit himself. He did not have the idea behind Dolly the sheep."
The molecular biologist claimed that the professor regularly bullied him and would not accept Asian men could come up with ideas. Dr Singh, 45, was transferred to work with Prof Wilmut at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh.
He said: "He wanted to collaborate with other people using my work. But he didn't want to collaborate with me.
"He took my ideas and bullied me. I gave, he took."
The scientist described conditions at the institute as "poor" and said they were difficult to work in. He added: "Roslin mouse house was chaotic."
Dr Singh is claiming race discrimination and unfair dismissal. The hearing continues in Edinburgh.
